Notion is bought per workspace, and that single fact decides everything: the plan is applied to a workspace, every member of that workspace gets the features, and guests behave differently from members. If you are buying alone, one seat on your own workspace is the whole purchase.
Workspace, seat, or education plan
A workspace upgrade lifts limits for everyone in it. A seat-based listing is priced per member. Education plans are issued against an education email and come with different limits again.
